INCH Pro/Home and INCH Duo charging stations support Dynamic Load Management (DLM). Using DLM, the charging system safely balances energy consumption between your electric vehicle, charging station, and other devices in your internal electricity grid. The functionality enables adjusting the current limit based on real-time measurements and signals that enhance the functionality of the EV charging station by providing intelligent control over charging power.
Benefits of using DLM
Optimised energy consumption of existing infrastructure.
Reduced charging and operational costs.
Local consumption of renewable energy sources.
Future-proof and grid-friendly charging infrastructure.
Required devices for DLM to function
For DLM to function in an INCH Pro/Home or INCH Duo charging station, an external metering device must be used:
/wiki/spaces/EKC/pages/3466461602 (for measuring up to 400 A, recommended FW version 1.13.9) via a wired connection using an RJ-45 connector, or
an external electricity meter* (for measuring beyond 1000 A) via a wired connection using an RJ-45 connector.
* Refer to the list of electricity meters supported by the INCH Pro/Home and INCH Duo charging stations.
Configuration
DLM configuration can be set via the MyINCH web interface.
Log in to the MyINCH interface.
Open Configuration > Power management > General configuration.
Under Power management configuration, connect the charging station to the power management master by ticking the box preceding the option. Set Primary master address to localhost by clicking Running on this charger.
Click Save.
Under Power management, open Building power limits and enable the Load Guard installed option by ticking the checkbox.
With every DLM energy meter, we will need to input the Max. building currents (which normally is the value of the Main Circuit Breaker) and Max. charging currents when communication with Load Guard fails (which is a fallback current, with which the charging station will charge in case the communication is down).
If connecting the charging station with a Load Guard device, enter the Load Guard serial number and Master charger serial number, click Save, and reboot the charging station.
If connecting any other DLM energy meter, simply select the energy meter being used:
Enter the Energy meter IP Address (the energy meter and the charging station must be in the same network), click Save, and reboot the charging station.
After the reboot, you can view the status of the connection by clicking the shield icon in the top right corner of the MyINCH interface.
Load Guard
To configure Load Guard for DLM to function with the charging station, refer to the /wiki/spaces/EKC/pages/3538714645.
External electricity meter directly connected to charging station
When choosing an external meter as the external metering device of the charging station for DLM to function, the meter must be:
connected with a wire to the charging station using an RJ-45 connector,
configured in such a way that the charging station can be able to communicate with it.
