Brain Firmware update
Brain OS firmware update.
This guide will take you trough installing new Brain OS firmware.
1. Creating bootable USB drive with Brain OS firmware
For this guide, you will need a USB drive with a capacity matching the original storage device. We recommend using 16GB usb key.
You will need to upload the brain.bin image to the USB drive. To do that you will need to have the following program on your computer: https://www.osforensics.com/tools/write-usb-images.html
This program doesn’t install into Windows 10, so be sure to unpack the ZIP file into a location you can remember. Double-click the ImageUSB.exe file to launch the program. Click “Yes” if a User Account Control pop-up appears on the screen.
When the program opens on your screen, click the “Write Image To USB Drive” setting listed under Step 2.
Click the “Browse” button to locate and select the image file stored on your PC.
Once you locate the stored image, click the “Write” button to begin. Keep in mind that ImageUSB will erase everything stored on the destination USB stick and replace its contents with the image’s data.
When complete, delete the file from your PC if you have no plans to write it to another USB stick.
2. Install image to brain
Before turning on the Brain connect the ethernet cable to port 1, keyboard, USB drive and make sure to connect LCD screen through HDMI.
When everything is connected power on the Brain.
Enter Brain bios by pressing delete key on keyboard and check the boot settings. The USB option needs to be on boot option #1 and #2
After that go to Save & Exit tab and select Save Changes and Exit. This will save changes and restart the Brain to show USB boot options.
Select Arch Linux (x86_64, UEFI).
When the OS is booted you will need to login with root.
After logging into the system you need to write brain-install to start the installation script.
The installation is finished when it says + Finished on the bottom of the screen.
After the installation is finished power off the Brain and remove USB drive, keyboard and screen.
After disconnecting the keyboard, USB drive and LCD screen you can power on the brain and try accessing the brain web interface via brain.local .
Note: After the installation of the new firmware you will lose the model name and serial number of the Brain. To fix that we will need connect to brain via SSH. Here is a guide how to giving access to Etrel: https://etrelchargingsolutions.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PET/pages/3925088344
