How to upgrade firmware on INCH products
This is guide how to upgrade firmware on INCH and INCH Duo chargers. Latest firmware can always be found here INCH Firmware Releases , together with release notes, changelog, etc,…
Firmware is split in two parts, system update and app update. System normally needs to be updated less often, and main updates are for application that runs whole charging and charging logic. Sometimes we release some additional updates for modules inside the chargers, but those are marked separately on firmware download page.
To start the upgrade of INCH, first you need to connect to the web interface of the charger. How to do it, can be found here Connecting to INCH and INCH Duo directly with PC , it is long guide, but after one or two connection you will be faimiliar with the process. The main issue that we see on the field is lack of rights of changing IP address on your company PC’s due to security policies.
After you can successfully connect to the web interface we can continue with the upgrade
Login to the web interface of the charger with credentials. Default ones are normally
username: root@etrel.com
password: toor
After that navigate to Menu → Diagnostics
And then click on Upgrade firmware
If you have to update system and app, select system first from your computer
After selecting click Save.
System update takes a bit of time, app update is faster
You should get green notification if update was successful and red if not. Charger will reboot itself after some time.
If you need to update app, just repeat the steps.
